Tixel i® - Dry Eye Treatment

Tixeli is an FDA-cleared treatment for dry eye disease resulting from Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), the leading cause of dry eye disease. Tixel i uses precisely controlled heat to improve the function of Meibomian glands, which exist in the eyelids. Powered by Thermo-Mechanical Action, this treatment consists of short pulses (6 millisecond) of high heat applied directly to the eyelids via gentle pressure from the proprietary, self-disinfecting, Titanium coated tip.

What to Expect During Tixel i Treatment

All you need to do is relax! The clinician will gently cleanse your eyelid areas and an analgesic gel may be applied prior to treatments. The disinfected handset is placed gently on your upper and lower eyelids so short pulses of heat can be applied through a matrix of superficial thermal dots to improve gland function. You’ll feel warmth and gentle pressure on your eyelids for a total of 2 minutes for both eyes. Immediately after treatment, you may experience temporary eye watering or blurry vision.

For maximum relief, most patients require 3 Tixel i treatments spaced 2 weeks apart.
